BlackBox: high-speed cartonization and advanced mixed-palletization

Meet the MagicLogic BlackBox

MagicLogic’s BlackBox optimizer is a Windows service providing easy-to-integrate load optimization capabilities to website or software developers. Its main applications are Cartonization (box selection for orders in eFulfilment), and Mixed Palletization using robotics. The most important feature of Cartonization is the optimized selection of cartons or boxes, order after order.

The BlackBox has a list of features that make the system an integrator’s dream. It is load planning distilled to its purest form; a unit capable of producing all the high-quality results you expect from MagicLogic’s state-of-the-art loading algorithm, condensed into a plug-in module compatible with any WMS/ ERP system on the market. Cube-IQ BlackBox is crammed with industry-standard interfaces, allowing plug-and-play with minimal work needed to achieve integration with existing systems.

MagicLogic’s proprietary loading algorithm is central to the system. The algorithm is the result of many years of intensive research and experience in the field of Combinational Optimization. Our algorithms are widely recognized by leading systems providers and integrators as “best of breed” and are built into software provided by many Tier 1 logistics service providers and on the desktops and servers of some of the world’s largest logistics operations.

By utilizing true 3D placement of every item, our software ensures an optimal solution.

Software for High Speed Cartonization

Our BlackBox software will select the best carton(s) to use from your stock, order after order after order. The BlackBox runs as a Windows service and supports many industry-standard APIs for easy integration into websites, WMS, TMS, ERP, or even legacy systems.

The original Cube-IQ BlackBox Load Engine (CLE) has maximum fill rate as its main objective. Add to this lightning-fast container sophisticated rules ensuring that the most efficient container is automatically selected. Near real-time response means you can use the results during checkout as well as for pick, carton selection and fulfilment.

Software for Palletization

The BlackBox contains a seperate optimization engine, developed specifically for Mixed Palletization. It features the building of layers, semi layers, and an automatic switch to ‘free’ stacking when needed. In use for manual pack-stations and robotic installations. Industry-standard APIs mean easy integration into your WMS and pick controlers.

The Mixed Palletization Engine (MPE) has pallet stability as its main goal, loading to reach maximum stability at minimal loss to fill quality.

Complex mixed-case pallet stacking, including robotics or manual pack stations are all supported.

Features of Cube-IQ BlackBox include:

Adaptable and Friendly. Our customers know what they need, and that is a system that works seamlessly with what they already have. We used this simple premise to design the BlackBox from the ground up.

Over half of our business is focused on enhancing and customizing our products to meet customers’ specific requirement.

The system you choose must be configurable to your needs. BlackBox works with you, regardless of whether that’s in a WMS/TMS environment, fulfilling hundreds of orders in real-time in an e-tailing environment, or intense cartonization operations. In every case, your unique requirements are met by its flexible, intuitive rule set.

BlackBox architecture is specifically designed to grow with you, from a single CPU to a network of servers. No additional software is required as you grow your operation. The system is fast, self-tuning and self-balancing. VMs and Cloud installations are fully supported.

We know you don’t have time to customize your existing applications to work around new applications. BlackBox can be configured to operate with any system available that can generate data to a standard schema. Your system integrators will be up and running in a few days with our straightforward and powerful APIs.

Most operations run 24/7 and downtime must be minimized or preferably obviated.  BlackBox includes diagnostics and self-monitoring tools.

Our software utilizes the industry standard of XML or JSON for data transfer, and as you’d expect, it supports SOAP, REST and direct TCP connections for ease of integration.

MagicLogic has been in business since 1995 and has consistently grown, year-on-year. The growth is due to our dedicated, experienced professional team who can be relied on to provide fast support and regular software updates.
